Penn State parking guide for short-term visitors (2024)

Hiking to class on Penn State’s over 8,500-acre campus may not be an ideal situation for busy students.

Having a car on campus can make transportation a lot easier — but it raises questions about where to park and at what cost.

Here’s where you can park on campus, whether you’re a full-time student driving in for the day or an alumni making a quick visit.

Stadium West Lot

Located near Beaver Stadium, this spot is ideal for quick access to the east side of campus. The parking rate is $8 per hour for a maximum of seven hours using ParkMobile zone 95112.

ParkMobile is a free app where you can remotely pay for parking fees and even reserve a parking spot ahead of time.

Parking is unavailable during home football games or between 2-4 a.m.

East Deck

Near East Halls and a short walk from the Berkey Creamery, the East Deck offers parking for up to five days.

Any visitor should take a ticket before exiting, and the maximum daily fee is $16. There is no motorcycle parking available.

HUB Deck

The HUB Deck is located in the center of campus, near the HUB-Robeson Center and Old Main. Visitors can park for up to five days, and the maximum daily fee is $16.

Visitors must take a ticket and pay before leaving. The deck accommodates all vehicles except motorcycles.

Eisenhower Visitor Lot

Located near the Eisenhower Auditorium, this lot is available for short-term visitor parking. This location is also a short distance from University Health Services.

Maximum parking time is 30 minutes, and rates are collected through pay stations or ParkMobile zone 95120.

West Deck

Located on the west side of campus by the Westgate Building and downtown State College, this follows the same regulations as other decks by prohibiting motorcycles and imposing a daily maximum fee of $16.

Lion Shrine Visitor Lot

This lot is ideal for visitors wishing to take pictures with the Lion Shrine, as it offers a parking lot without a daily rate.

Maximum parking time is 30 minutes and guests must pay at nearby pay stations.

Yellow H Lot

Adjacent to Pegula Ice Arena, this east campus lot is available for a maximum of four hours. Visitors can pay through a pay station or ParkMobile zone 95121.

Parking is prohibited in this lot on hockey game days or home football Saturdays.

This is not to be mistaken with Yellow H Lot near the Shields Building, which is available for a maximum of 30 minutes Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is available for three hours any other time.

Jordan East Lot

If you’re heading to the Bryce Jordan Center, the Jordan East Lot would be the best spot for you. This lot has a daily rate of $8, and the maximum time visitors can park is seven hours.

Visitors can pay using a pay station or the ParkMobile zone 95112. This lot prohibits parking from 2-4 a.m. and doesn’t offer parking during home football games.

Downtown State College

For anyone willing to walk, there are also a variety of places to park downtown.

On-street metered parking is available throughout downtown for $1.25 per hour from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with time limits extended to three hours after 5 p.m. This can be paid for via the ParkMobile app or with coins or a credit card at the meter.

There are also parking garages on the 100 block of South Fraser Street, the 100 block of South Pugh Street and the 200 block of West Beaver Avenue. These can be paid for via pay station, with a rate of $1 an hour beginning at 6 a.m. and 75 cents an hour after 6 p.m.

The parking lots on the 200 block of Allen Street, the 100 block of McAllister Street and on the 100 block of West Beaver Avenue cost $1.25 per hour from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This can be paid for via a nearby kiosk or ParkMobile.

Parking on Sundays is free everywhere downtown from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, except for weekends when event rates are in effect.
